Abstract:

This article presents a comprehensive analysis of natural gas from the Hassi R´Mel field in Algeria—one of the world´s largest gas fields. The study examines gas composition, calculates key physical and thermodynamic properties including liquid content (MPM), heating value, Wobbe Index, and specific gravity. The analysis demonstrates that Hassi R´Mel gas is characterized as "lean gas" with MPM = 0.0395 < 0.0408. The Wobbe Index is calculated at 44 MJ/m³ after composition optimization. Additionally, the article investigates hydrate formation conditions, determining a formation temperature of 20°C at 60 bara pressure, and calculates ethylene glycol requirements (1.608 kg/1000 m³) for hydrate inhibition. These findings have direct implications for LNG production efficiency and pipeline transport safety.
