TECHNOLOGIES FOR THE PRODUCTION OF BITUMEN AND POLYMER BITUMEN BINDERS

Abstract:

The history of the development of technologies for the production of road bitumen (they account for up to 80% in Russia). The total bitumen production) took place in several stages – from periodic oxidation in cubes and compressor-free reactors to modern automated combined production facilities, including continuous column-type oxidizing units of various designs and powerful compounding units for raw materials and finished products. This article provides a comprehensive analysis of modern technologies for the production of petroleum bitumen and their modification by polymers. The main industrial methods of bitumen production are considered: vacuum distillation and oxidation of tar. Special attention is paid to the processes of creating polymer-bitumen binders (PBB), including the selection of polymers, optimization of technological parameters, and solving compatibility and stability issues. Based on the analysis of scientific data and specialized literature, the key factors affecting the quality of the final product are systematized, and the following are highlighted.
